Teosyal lip filler choices fall into two groups that come with different paperwork. RHA 3 holds an FDA approval for lip augmentation, backed by a US trial. The Kiss syringes are described in Teoxane’s instructions for use. Which group fits depends on where you practice.
Clinics that buy Teosyal online still need to match each syringe to their market, the patient’s lip fullness and the label. This guide covers the RHA 3 evidence and injection limits, the Kiss specifications and what each lip syringe costs at wholesale.
Teosyal Lip Filler Range and Regulatory Status
Teoxane lists RHA 3 and Kiss as separate products with separate instructions for use, so treat them as different gels. The FDA approved RHA 3 for lip augmentation on October 27, 2023. The approval covers the vermilion body, vermilion border and oral commissures in adults aged 22 and older. RHA 3 already carried a 2017 approval for dynamic wrinkles and folds.
Teoxane introduced Teosyal Kiss in 2006 as the first hyaluronic acid filler dedicated to lips. Teoxane’s instructions library now lists TEOSYAL PureSense Kiss and RHA Kiss Volume Lido. Both sets of instructions reference the EU’s EUDAMED database, so check what your own regulator allows before you stock them. Our Kiss pages sit in the Canada approved range.
Clinical Evidence Behind a Teosyal Lip Filler
The lip approval rests on one study. Teoxane funded a randomized, controlled trial at seven US sites and treated 202 adults, 153 with RHA 3 and 49 with Restylane-L. A blinded live evaluator scored lip fullness on the Teoxane Lip Fullness Scale (TLFS), while the treating investigators were not blinded. Two of the nine authors work for Teoxane, and the other seven were investigators who received research grants from the company. The FDA summary of safety and effectiveness and the Aesthetic Surgery Journal paper report these results:
- RHA 3 was noninferior at 12 weeks. The mean TLFS gain was 1.0 grade against 0.8 for Restylane-L, a difference of 0.19 with a 95% confidence interval of minus 0.03 to 0.42 against a margin of 0.5.
- 78.1% of RHA 3 patients improved by at least one grade at 12 weeks, against 65.9% for Restylane-L.
- 61% of RHA 3 patients still showed improvement at 36 weeks, and 48% at 52 weeks.
- 82.7% of RHA 3 patients were satisfied one year after treatment.
Read the responder result with care. The study’s success criteria required the comparator to reach a 70% responder rate. Restylane-L reached 65.9% across baseline grades 1 to 3, so that criterion went unmet. A post hoc look at baseline grades 1 and 2 gave 94.1% for RHA 3 and 88.9% for Restylane-L. Patients who started at grade 3 responded less often, at 62.3% against 29.4%.
RHA 3 Lip Injection Technique and Limits
The instructions for use call for a 27G ½ inch needle and injection into the lip mucosa or the mid to deep dermis. They cap each session at 1.5 mL for the upper lip and 1.5 mL for the lower lip. Technique stays with the injector. Linear threading was the most common choice in the trial, alone or combined with multiple punctate pools or fanning.
Trial volumes ran below the cap. Patients received a mean of 1.78 mL to reach optimal correction, and 58% of the RHA 3 group (89 of 153) returned for a touch up at 4 weeks. After retreatment the mean dropped to 1.03 mL. Book a possible second visit when you schedule the first.
Swelling affected 92.8% of patients who returned diaries across both study groups. Lumps and bumps (78.5%), firmness (78.5%) and tenderness (77.9%) followed. In the RHA 3 group, 84% of reactions cleared within 14 days, and the FDA summary reports no treatment related serious adverse events.
Intravascular injection is the rare serious risk. The label says never to inject into a blood vessel. If the skin blanches, stop immediately, massage until normal color returns and follow American Society for Dermatologic Surgery guidance, which includes hyaluronidase. Screen for a herpetic history too, because the label warns that injection can reactivate the virus.
Teosyal Kiss Syringes Compared
The trial data above belong to RHA 3 alone. Teoxane’s instructions for use give these specifications for the two Kiss gels:
- TEOSYAL PureSense Kiss contains 25 mg/mL of HA with crosslinking below 10% and 0.3% lidocaine. The box holds 27G ½ inch needles. It is indicated for the perioral region, covering the lips, philtrum and oral commissures, and goes into the subdermis or the submucosa of the red lips.
- RHA Kiss Volume Lido contains 23 mg/mL of HA with crosslinking below 5% and 0.3% lidocaine. The box holds 30G ½ inch needles. Its indications span deep wrinkles and midface volume at the nasolabial folds, plus the perioral region. Placement runs from the dermis to the submucosa of the red lips.
Both documents estimate a lifetime of 12 to 18 months and accept a 25G blunt cannula in place of the needle. They also recommend no more than 2 mL in the lips. The RHA 3 label sets a different cap of 1.5 mL per lip, so keep each limit with its own syringe.
Wholesale Pricing and Cost per mL for Clinics
Teosyal cost for lip treatments depends on the syringe and the volume per patient. Cosmo Direct Supply sells to businesses only, with a $300 minimum order. Per pack prices fall 3% at 5 packs, 5% at 10, 8% at 20 and 10% at 30. The table shows the price per pack at the 1 to 4 pack tier:
| Product Name | Price |
|---|---|
| TEOSYAL® RHA 3 LIDOCAINE (2 x 1.0 ML) | $191.00 |
| TEOSYAL RHA KISS LIDOCAINE (2 x 0.7ml) | $135.00 |
| TEOSYAL® KISS PURESENSE (2 x 1.0 ML) | $176.00 |
Per mL, RHA 3 runs $95.50, RHA Kiss about $96.43 and PureSense Kiss $88.00. The trial mean of 1.78 mL to reach optimal correction puts RHA 3 gel at roughly $170 per lip patient. Prices can change, so check each product page.
What to Log and Stock for Lip Sessions
Record the lot number and expiry date of every Teosyal lip filler syringe you inject, and buy only from suppliers that document sourcing. Keep hyaluronidase in the room, and write down the volume per lip so a touch up at 4 weeks starts from a known baseline. The trial offered retreatment at 36 or 52 weeks, which gives you a reference point when you set rebooking intervals.
-
Which Teosyal lip filler is FDA approved?
RHA 3 holds the FDA lip augmentation approval, issued October 27, 2023, for adults aged 22 and older. The approval document names RHA 3 only.
-
How much can you inject per lip?
The RHA 3 label caps each session at 1.5 mL per upper lip and 1.5 mL per lower lip. In the trial, patients needed a mean of 1.78 mL in total after the optional touch up at 4 weeks. Teoxane's Kiss instructions recommend 2 mL maximum in the lips.
-
When do lip patients need retreatment?
The trial offered retreatment at 36 or 52 weeks. At 36 weeks, 61% of RHA 3 patients still showed improvement, and 48% did at 52 weeks. Retreatment used less gel, with a mean of 1.03 mL.
-
Can you treat a patient with a history of cold sores?
The RHA 3 label warns that injection into patients with a previous herpetic eruption may reactivate the herpes. The pivotal trial excluded people with an outbreak in the 4 weeks before randomization or 4 or more outbreaks in the prior 12 months. Take a history before you book the session.
